The PROs and CONs of JPA;Art stream..?

Salam,

and here’s what I think about the JPA offer.Well, since that I am in art stream,my opinion might be vary with students who is in science stream.

The outline of JPA scholarship

Well,of course we start with the preparation course. Most of JPA students will make their preparation course at college. And of course it would be far more challenging, you have to cope with a brand new life(if you;re from rural, outskirt area) and it would be very competitive. It would take about 1 and a half-years or 2 years.

Then,if you complete it with success, you’ll fly to foreign country and study there for 3/4/5 years depending on the course.

As you come back, you have to submit your application(this is an order) to SPA(Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Awam).

So,all in all, you’ll finish studying in 4/5/6 YEARS and a half.

The PROS:

1.Longer period of studying abroad.

Hmm,unlike perguruan, JPA offer 3 years and above period of study.Somebody might think this is important. :-P

2.Bonded but not as a teacher.

You will be bonded, who say you arent?heh. But there’s a doubt which I’ll explain in CONS.

3.You might have some time to experience the job-hunting situasion.

If you love the challenge of seeking for job, maybe JPA is more suitable. But there’s still a doubt.

The CONS:

1.You will be bonded for 6 years.

6years is hell long for me.I dont like it.6 years might kill my potential. Why I said so because..working in an office environment, take order from people above us..the job become lame.I am expecting a joyful, and conducive environment.I dont want my potential being taken for granted.I dont want to be a body without a soul.

2.You will only get a job if there’s a vacancy.

Okay, this is not juicy.Once you come back, report yourself to the SPA,and you have to WAIT for a vacancy. If you’re in science stream, this migh not be a huge problem, but for art stream, there’s a tendency for problem to occur. And it might even take years. What more with the government’s decision of increasing ‘umur bersara’ to 58 years instead of 56!

While you are waiting, you can work in private sector, but bear in mind,if at that time you’re in the top of your career and the SPA call you for an interview, you have to stop and it is an obligation to do so even though you might hate leaving your private sector’s career.

3.Same job,same routine

This is what I hate about working in office.Same job same routine,it will destroy my creativity and often make me feel sleepy.Unlike teacher, you have to be creative in teaching, and more free. That’s better, isn’t it?

4.Political agenda’s victim

Well,I guess this is the payment for receiving their scholarship *sight*.

I guess, that’s all. This is just my opinion.I really, really hope that someone might want to share related facts with me.

Thank you.

Salam.
